I worked a little more on the exterior design renderings tonight. I increased the roof raise to 20″ and refined several parts of the model. Next I need to place windows, then I should be able to start playing with paint schemes, etc.
Also today Kendre picked up a new circular saw for me [...]

Well, I started drilling out ceiling rivets (there are 461) and realized right away (by the twelfth one) that I need better drill bits. So I ordered some and am waiting on those.
Then I thought I’d take some more floor up. I got a couple more pieces out and the circular saw died. [...]

This morning, we took the bus to Pops in Arcadia. It was our last family outing in the bus for a while since it won’t have any passenger seating for a while. On the way back, Kendre drove the bus for the first time. In spite of the silly kids pretending to be [...]

I have been working on details of various parts of the design. Here is a drawing of the drawers under the front/foot part of the queen bed. The rear/head part of the bed will rest on the engine box.
The side drawers are split so you can stand beside the bed and open one or [...]

Tonight I worked on some details of the battery compartment under the back bedroom. I wanted to be sure there was room for a decent sized fresh water tank and a reasonable number of house batteries.
I plan to use AGM batteries because they are sealed and don’t have the risks of leakage or [...]

I’ve wanted to get a look at the subfloor of the bus, so I first tried pulling up the linoleum floor. That was pretty much impossible, so I got out the circular saw and set it to the depth of the flooring and plywood minus a little bit. I sawed up some manageably [...]

I worked on the bus some more this evening. I took four more seats out. Any more and we won’t be able to all ride in it for now… at least not with a place to sit.
I also stripped all the stuff off the engine box and disabled the alarm buzzer on [...]

Well, I was optimistic about getting the remainder of the seats out in 2-3 hours. Today, I spend about 2.5 hrs working on seats and got ten more out. Some of them were pretty difficult to get out. I left the bottom part of the heater seat for now - I’ll [...]

I’ve been thinking a lot about the roof lately. I would like to insulate really well, so I plan to remove the current ceiling and the sad little insulation that is there now. Once that is removed I’ll be able to fill it with good modern insulation that is more effective both in [...]

Today I (with lots of help) finally started removing seats. I had to cut the aisle side bolts on about half of the seats. On the others, I was able to just unbolt them. Unfortunately, I had to get some other stuff done, so I stopped at 10 seats (out of [...]
